Perfect Sticky Rice In A Rice Cooker - Plus My Vietnamese Fried Sticky Rice Recipe
Sticky rice is also referred to glutinous rice, Thai sticky rice, and short grain rice but did you know you can make this rice in your rice cooker too?
Cooking it in the rice cooker will result in plump and sticky rice that’s comparable to steamed sticky rice.

Soul Warming Vietnamese “Chao”- Turkey Porridge Recipe (Congee)
Chao is Vietnamese rice porridge or you may know it as also by its Chinese counterpart, Congee (typically eaten in China as a breakfast meal ❤️). In Vietnam chao is not only a common breakfast meal but it’s also a popular lunch and dinner as well. Since it’s considered as the poor’s mans’ food, Cháo, won’t be found at your local American Vietnamese restaruants. At home it can be cooked fancier when cooked with a variety of specialty meats- this can include Cháo Vịt (duck porridge) and Cháo Cá (fish porridge).

If you’re like me and have a ton of Turkey leftovers from Thanksgiving then why not repurpose it into something totally different like Tikka Masala where the turkey is cooked in a orange/red cream colored spiced curry sauce.

Vegetarian Kimchi & Tofu Egg Rolls + Homemade Sweet & Sour Sauce
These are not traditional egg rolls but a fun way to make a veg friendly fried appetizer. I got the idea from having left over kimchi/tofu dumpling batter which I later added some extra fillings typical with vegetarian egg rolls like cabbage to make these egg rolls.
Spicy Tuna Onigiri
Onigiri are one of my favorite sushi snacks. When I worked in fashion these snacks were perfect for a quick and very filling lunch (just two of these was enough to get me through the rest of the day). Did you know that these are also super easy to make at home as well?
If you aren’t familiar with this popular Japanese snacks, onigiri are made simply from sushi rice balls that are shaped into triangles and wrapped with nori seaweed sheets. Yukari and Yukari Rice: Yukari shiso salt is a Japnanese seasoning salt made simply from powdered dried purple shiso leaves and sea salt. The result is a tangy and colorful seasoning for onigiri, yukari rice, and many other Japanese dishes. To make Yukari rice, just sprinkle it over cooked rice and mix. I go this recipe from Yoko a Japanese chef and owner of a new upcoming ramen spot in Kingston.
Trung Chien- Vietnamese Steamed Eggs / Egg Quiche With Shrimp and Veggies
Trung Chien- A Vietnamese inspired omelette/egg pie. My dad used to make many different variations of this, sometimes with shrimp and sometimes with tofu but always with some fresh garden veggies like scallions, bell peppers, and onions.
It's a simple dish, almost like an egg quiche if I had to compare it with anything but made with vermicelli noodles and some Vietnamese ingredients like dried wood ear mushrooms, fish sauce, and shallots.

Sesame Brie Mac & Cheese with “Tatsuta Age” Fried Chicken.
Some of the best recipes comes from your internal food cravings like this one. I wasn’t sure what I was craving but I knew I wanted something with brie, noodles and fried chicken… If mac and cheese was an Vietnamese dish I would probably use Brie cheese, sesame oil and a dash of fish sauce!
