This kit includes almost everything you need to make a proper pot of phở at home — Dad’s signature spice blend, rock sugar, optional MSG, and mushroom powder. Just add bones and a few pantry staples.

Perfect for beef, chicken, or vegetarian phở, this blend gives you the spices needed to build a rich, soul-warming broth with depth, balance, and aroma.

Inside, you’ll find Poppa Trinh’s signature phở spice blend — toasted aromatics paired with rock sugar to give your phở its savory, aromatic backbone.

Also included is my dad’s full beef phở recipe, along with his personal tips and techniques, so you can carry the same care, balance, and flavor into your own kitchen.
Each sachet is designed for an 8–10 liter pot of phở.

What’s Inside

  • 2 sachets of Dad’s signature phở spice blend

  • Rock sugar

  • MSG (optional, for extra umami)

  • Mushroom powder

Ingredients

Vietnamese licorice root, fructus tsaoko (black cardamom), star anise, white peppercorns, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, clove buds, Vietnamese cinnamon.
Monosodium glutamate (MSG), mushroom powder, and rock sugar(packaged separately).

Directions / Use

For Vietnamese phở noodle soup — beef, chicken, or vegetarian.
Place the spice blend into a piece of cheesecloth, tie securely with kitchen twine, and add to your phở pot during the final 30–45 minutes of simmering for maximum flavor.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place.
